What a day

I'm so glad my brother was able to move back from Japan.  The thought of having to do all the financial things for my parents wigs me out so I'm glad that's his job.  Last year we went to a lawyer to make sure all my parents documents were in order and we made it clear we wanted my brother to be able to act in my parents place for when they were not mentally able to handle their finances.  We were told things were done that way, but after recently trying to move some money, we found out the lawyer had basically screwed us over, making it so my brother still had no power.  One word was left out.... 'Or'.  Instead it listed my parents 'and' my brother meaning he couldn't act without them.  So we had to get my dad to sign papers to authorize my brother to do that but the bank wouldn't notarize them without his ID and his drivers license had expired months ago.

So, we had no choice but to take my dad to the DMV and get a photo ID.  He has a hard time walking and doesn't do well in public places for a long period of time, especially busy places.  We were there 2 hours.  RIDICULOUS.  I can't believe that they do not help accommodate the elderly or even those with handicaps.  Not to mention the DMV is the most irritating place on earth to be to begin with since they have 8 windows but only 2 open.   Reminded me of Walmart.  Ha!  I've never understood why Walmart has a bazillion checkouts and only 2 are actively open.  Idiots.  I hate that store.

So needless to say we were all irritated by the time we left but we did get him a temp ID which allowed us to then go to the bank and have the documents signed.  All the way my dad asked why he needed photo ID about 20 times.  The only good thing that came from being up there so long was that we are hoping it will discourage my mom from wanting to get her license renewed.  It expires in a month and none of us want her to keep driving even though she's still a descent driver.  So I'll just remind her that she'll have to sit up there all over again.  Ha!  Hope it works.

The highlight of the day was when my brother dropped my dad off at home after being away for about 4 hours.  He told him, "Tell that lady lawyer to stuff it."   Ha Ha ha!!  He cracks me up.

Don't worry dad, we are one step ahead of you.  She is fired and we've already found a new one.  I can't wait to see what my brother tells her.  She will be lucky if she leaves with her head.
