The Goldfinch is Iowa's state bird. I was so excited when I first saw them and look forward to they're arrival each spring when they migrate back to Iowa. This year I made sure I had my thistle out early so when they passed our farm they would stop and hopefully stay. I think it worked because I had TONS of them this year. They empty my 3 feeders within 4 days. Pigs. They are my absolute favorite bird and they sing so cute. http://www.learnbirdsongs.com/birdsong.php?id=23
The day they disappear is the day I dread because it means winter is not far away.
