Bug of the Month

I almost forgot to do this months 'bug of the month' post until today when I was not so gently reminded of this stupid bug.

Meet the "Pirate Bug"They are only 1/5 of an inch long, but bite like a gigantic monster! I think the Iowa State Department of Entomology sums it up best when they say... "Their bite is surprisingly painful for such a small insect as they probe their short blunt beak into the skin. One consolation - the bugs are not quick to fly following biting, so the victim usually has the satisfaction of removing the offender from the ranks of the living."

Precisely what I did... smeared the little bugger all over my arm and smiled.

  1. Ha ha! It sounds so dramatic to "remove them from the ranks of the living". One point for the con-list.
