HOPE...

We are hopeful again. Right when we thought we were out of options and back to square one, the phone rang last Friday. It just so happened to be Shaun's day off and he also happened to pick up the phone....... and anyone who knows Shaun knows how RARE that is! haha! It was a job we applied to back in August back in Maryland and the guy interviewed Shaun right then and there for 2.5 hours. He told Shaun he is exactly what he's looking for and asked for references. We e-mailed them to him on Saturday. We talked to our old boss in Michigan who said we could use him as a reference too. He was the best boss EVER... and such a nice person. So today we get a call from two of our references saying that they got called. Then tonight at 9pm the phone rang again and it was the guy telling Shaun he wants him to fly out for an interview on Friday/Saturday. Shaun is the only person they are interviewing because based on what they've seen/heard so far, they want him. Shaun would be a broker for horticulture products and we'd be living in Virginia. We'd actually be living in the heart of Civil War land which Shaun would be so excited about. I'd be excited to live in the blue ridge mountains with TREE'S!!! I miss tree's. We will have to take a pretty big pay cut initially, but we think we can manage. They provide a car and credit card for all travel expenses. They pay part health insurance which we don't get here so those things add up. This would be the perfect job for Shaun. He would travel around to multiple greenhouses and just troubleshoot problems with them and then recommend products to help them. He has great knowledge of products, something that this companies other salesman do not have. The only things they know about products are what they've read about. Shaun has actually used them and can testify to their worth. That is why this guy wants Shaun. Most sales jobs we've applied to don't want you unless you have prior sales experience or can bring accounts with you. This guys different. He goes more for the personal aspect of it, and that is smart.

We are back to 'Hope' mode again. He also has a phone interview with a company on Thursday where he'd be working with plant royalties. He would travel around and enforce the propagation laws for patented plants. His legal background will make him desirable for that one too and we wouldn't have to move. This one though requires extensive travel and I wouldn't see him hardly from January to June. I'm independent, and would be ok, but I think living out of hotels and eating fast food all day will drive him mad. But, it's an option, and it would get him really good experience and he'd make excellent contacts in the industry.

We'll see. One day at a time...
